France, the country of the Tour de France of course is a superb biking country with many wonderful diverse landscapes, quiet roads, beautiful historic sites...

French cities are actively promoting the use of bicycles. So you may find some bicycles for rent in many towns

Then the best places for walking may be the south east and south west (there are many bicycle paths (pistes cyclables) on the Antlantic coast.

• Pyrenees (in the south west) : you will enjoy the Parc National des Pyrenees, a natural park with great landscapes such as  the Cirque of Gavarnie, the lac de Gaube
